The Metal Worx Story

Built From
The Ground Up.

Where It Began

One Small Shop.
One Original Idea.

Metal Worx was founded on the belief that steel could be more than functional—it could tell a story.

In the early days, Lori Bertsch began creating distinctive metal flags from a modest shop in Hope Mills. Each flag was fabricated by hand, and the natural character of the steel ensured that no two pieces looked exactly alike.

The response was immediate. Customers connected with the rugged, patriotic design, word spread, and the Battle Worn Flag became one of the creations that helped define Metal Worx.

The Story Made Headlines

From the Shop Floor
to the Front Page.

What started as an experiment in steel quickly captured the attention of customers, the community, and the local press.

How Metal Worx Builds

From Order Received
to Work Complete.

Every project follows a controlled path through our shop. The exact route may change based on the material, finish, and installation requirements, but the standard remains the same.

  1. 01 Order & Project Review

We confirm the order, specifications, artwork, measurements, finish requirements, deadline, and delivery or installation needs.

  2. 02 Design & Planning

Custom work is translated into production-ready drawings, layouts, cut files, and a practical fabrication plan.

  3. 03 Customer Approval

When a proof or final confirmation is required, production begins only after the customer approves the important details.

  4. 04 Material & Cutting

Material is prepared and components are precision cut using the appropriate laser, waterjet, or shop process.

  5. 05 Fabrication

Parts move through forming, fitting, welding, grinding, test assembly, and any project-specific fabrication stages.

  6. 06 Finish & Assembly

The project is cleaned, prepped, painted, patina finished, powder coated, assembled, and detailed as required.

  7. 07 Quality Control

We inspect the finished work for accuracy, appearance, operation, completeness, and readiness for the customer.

  8. 08 Delivery, Pickup or Install

Completed work is carefully prepared for customer pickup, delivery, shipment, or professional installation.

01 Built With Pride

Every detail matters, whether the project is a personal award or a major fabrication.

02 Made to Mean Something

We build pieces that represent service, achievement, identity, and lasting memories.
