From Idea to Finished Metal: Custom Fabrication at Metal Worx

At Metal Worx, many of our projects begin with a simple idea. A customer may bring us a photograph, sketch, set of measurements or example of something they have seen. Our team helps turn that starting point into a finished metal product built for its intended space and purpose.

Metal Worx is a veteran-owned metal fabrication shop serving Fayetteville, North Carolina, and the surrounding area. Since 2007, we have created custom metalwork for homeowners, businesses, military organizations, contractors and community partners.

You Don’t Need a Finished Blueprint to Get Started

Customers sometimes delay contacting a fabricator because they believe they need complete drawings before requesting a quote. That is not always necessary.

Depending on the project, we can begin with:

  • A photograph or example

  • A hand-drawn sketch

  • Basic measurements

  • An existing item that needs to be repaired or recreated

  • A description of what the finished product needs to accomplish

  • Architectural drawings or project plans

For projects such as railings, gates and fencing, a site visit may be required to confirm measurements, installation conditions and material needs.

What We Build

Metal Worx handles both functional fabrication and personalized metal artwork.

Our custom fabrication capabilities include:

  • Interior and exterior handrails

  • Gates and fencing

  • Architectural metalwork

  • Custom brackets, panels and components

  • Metal repairs and modifications

  • Business signs and logos

  • Custom welding and fabrication

  • Powder-coated metal products

We also create handcrafted products and recognition pieces, including:

  • Battle Worn American Flags

  • Military retirement and PCS awards

  • Unit logos and recognition pieces

  • Personalized signs

  • Home décor

  • Monograms

  • Memorial pieces

  • Custom gifts and one-of-a-kind designs

Every project has different requirements. Material, size, finish, mounting method and installation conditions are considered before production begins.

How the Custom Fabrication Process Works

1. Tell Us About Your Project

The process begins with a conversation. Let us know what you want to build, where it will be used, the approximate size and when you need it.

Photos, sketches and reference images are always helpful.

2. Design and Measurements

Our team reviews the project and determines whether additional measurements, drawings or a site visit are needed.

For personalized products, this stage may include names, dates, wording, logos or other custom details.

3. Cutting and Fabrication

After the design is approved, the project moves into production. Depending on the job, this may involve laser cutting, waterjet cutting, welding, grinding, forming and assembly.

4. Finishing

The appropriate finish is selected based on the product and how it will be used. Options may include powder coating, paint, patina or another project-specific finish.

5. Final Review and Delivery

The completed piece is inspected before pickup, delivery or installation. Our goal is to ensure that the finished work matches the approved design and is ready for its intended use.
